The Best Gluten-Free Restaurants in Houston

Cozy bakery café with pastry case, flower-filled tables, two seated customers, and chalkboard sign reading The GF Pantry Houston.

Finding great gluten-free food in Houston has gotten so much easier over the past few years. Whether you have celiac disease, a gluten sensitivity, or simply feel better limiting gluten, there are some incredible Houston restaurants that make dining gluten-free feel easy — and, most importantly, delicious.

As someone who cares a lot about both good food and good ingredients, these are a few of my favorite gluten-free restaurants in Houston, from casual takeout spots to date-night-worthy dining.

Leven Baking Company

If you're looking for a dedicated gluten-free restaurant in Houston, Leven Baking Company needs to be on your list.

Leven is one of the few spots in Houston that is 100% dedicated gluten-free, which makes it such a great option for anyone who needs to be especially careful about gluten or cross-contamination.

And while you might expect me to recommend a baked good first, my personal pick is actually their chicken nuggets. They're SO good and proof that gluten-free comfort food absolutely does not have to feel like a compromise.

Whether you're grabbing lunch, picking up something sweet, or just want the freedom of ordering without having to dissect every ingredient on the menu, Leven is a must-try.

bellagreen

bellagreen isn't a 100% gluten-free restaurant, but they offer tons of gluten-free options and are one of the most accommodating restaurants I've found when it comes to food allergies and dietary restrictions.

Earlier this year, I was doing some gut testing and temporarily following a low FODMAP diet. If you've ever tried low FODMAP, you know eating out can get complicated very quickly. I emailed bellagreen with some questions about their menu, and I was genuinely blown away by their response.

They took the time to provide a thoughtful, detailed answer about what I could eat and potential modifications. That level of care goes such a long way when you're navigating food sensitivities.

If you're dining with a group where everyone has different dietary needs, bellagreen is a great option because there's truly something for everyone.

Lua Viet Kitchen

Lua Viet Kitchen is one of my favorite Houston takeout spots.

Vietnamese food can naturally lend itself well to gluten-free eating, and Lua Viet Kitchen is a great option when I'm craving something flavorful, fresh, and easy to grab to-go.

This is the kind of spot I keep coming back to when I want a casual meal that still feels fresh and satisfying. If you're searching for gluten-free takeout in Houston, definitely add Lua Viet Kitchen to your list.

King Steak

For a more elevated dining experience, King Steak is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Houston.

What makes King Steak especially unique is that they are 100% seed oil free, and their entire menu can be made gluten-free. As someone who pays close attention to both gluten and cooking oils, finding a restaurant that accommodates both is a huge win.

Beyond the ingredients, the food is incredible and the restaurant itself is such a vibe. It's one of my go-to spots for a date night or girls' night when I want somewhere that feels special without having to stress over what I can order.

If you're looking for upscale gluten-free dining in Houston, this is my pick.

Honorable Mention: Bare Bakery

I couldn't make a Houston gluten-free list without giving Bare Bakery an honorable mention.

While it's more bakery than restaurant, it is one of my favorite places to grab gluten-free treats — especially for special occasions. I love their cakes, and their cinnamon rolls are to die for.

If you have a birthday, celebration, brunch, or just a random Saturday that calls for something sweet, Bare Bakery is absolutely worth checking out.

Gluten-Free Dining in Houston Keeps Getting Better: The BEst Gluten Free Restaurants in Houston

One of my favorite things about Houston's food scene is just how diverse it is — and thankfully, that increasingly includes restaurants that understand gluten-free dining and food sensitivities.

If I had to break my favorites down by occasion: Leven Baking Company is my pick when I want the peace of mind of a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, bellagreen is fantastic for dietary restrictions and group dining, Lua Viet Kitchen is a go-to for takeout, King Steak wins for an upscale dinner or date night, and Bare Bakery is where I'm heading when I need a gluten-free treat.

And remember: menus, ingredients, and kitchen practices can change. If you have celiac disease or a severe allergy, always talk directly with the restaurant about your specific needs and cross-contamination concerns before ordering.

Houston has so many great gluten-free options, and I'm always looking for more. Have a favorite gluten-free restaurant in Houston that I need to try? Let me know — I may have to make a Part 2!
