The 5 Best Yoga Studios in Houston, Texas

Updated: Jul 14, 2023

I always get asked this question, so I decided to make a blog post about it! There are so many great yoga studios in Houston that have different things to offer. I've been practicing yoga in Houston for over 10 years, and I've been teaching yoga + meditation for about 6 months. Depending on what type of yoga you like (vinyasa, yin, power yoga, etc.), whether you like heated/non heated, and even down to favorite instructors- here's my breakdown of my top yoga studios in Houston, TX!

1. Soul Tribes Yoga + Meditation

Okay, so I'm a little biased because I did my 200 -hour YMTT training with Soul Tribes and I also teach here.... but there's a reason I chose Soul Tribes for my training out of all the studios in HTX, and that's why I listed them first as one of my top yoga studios in Houston! Soul Tribes is unique because they offer not only traditional vinyasa flows, but they also have Yin Yoga, Thrive (uplevel class) and meditation + sound bowl classes. Their owner, Alexandra really enforces proper cueing and an inclusive environment so Soul Tribes is great for EVERY BODY, but especially for beginners.

I recommend checking out: One of their "Listen" sound bowl meditation classes (to experience the ULTIMATE zen) and a yin yoga class (psstttt: I teach Yin Yoga on Tuesdays at 8:15pm!) Check out the schedule here.

2. Black Swan Yoga

Black Swan Yoga Studio

Black Swan is next on my top yoga studios in Houston. One thing I really like about them is that they offer "donation-based" yoga, meaning you pay what you can per class (as a way to include everyone, no matter what their financial situation is). Black Swan is a heated studio and they allow teachers full creative expression in their classes. Due to this, I find the classes to be a bit hit-or-miss (you never know what you're going to get) but there are some instructors whose classes I REALLY enjoy like Karin Chen, Jen Arthur, and Graham Gaskill! Since it's a heated studio, it's great in the winter when I want to get a good sweat/detox in so you'll usually see me at Black Swan on White Oak in the colder months. :) Check out their schedule here.

3. Big Power Yoga Studios

I started my yoga practice at Big Yoga, so they'll always have a special place in my heart. Nestled in Montrose, most of their classes are heated to 95 degrees, except for Yin and devotional flow. One thing I really like about Big Yoga is their "cult-like" community and following-the energy is palpable! Their flows are fairly advanced in my opinion, so this studio is a great option for intermediate and advanced practitioners. Check out their schedule here.

4. Union Studio Yoga

Another great non-heated yoga option, Union Studio made it to my list of top yoga studios in Houston because of their bright and cozy environment, warm and welcoming vibes, and their variety of class types such as Hatha, Ashtanga and Vin-Yin. Like Soul Tribes, they offer meditation classes as well. Everyone there has a really authentic vibe and I also really love their location nestled in the trendy MKT market. Check out Union Studio's class schedule here.

5. Acro Yoga Houston

OK, this technically isn't a studio, but if you're a yogi in Houston, you definitely need to check this out!! Acro Yoga Houston is a group that meets up downtown every Friday to do acro yoga, which is a physical practice that combines yoga and acrobatics. It's SO MUCH FUN, y'all!! Bring a friend or come alone- they are SUCH a welcoming group and will help you out if you're a beginner. It's something you have to try at least once, but you'll definitely be back. Stay up to date on their meetups via their Facebook Page and Instagram.

Thanks for stopping by- I hope this post encourages you to keep a consistent yoga practice and try out some of the awesome studios & experiences in Houston!!
