The 5 Best Yoga Studios in Houston, Texas

Updated: Nov 3

I always get asked this question, so I decided to make a blog post about it! There are so many great yoga studios in Houston that have different things to offer. I've been practicing yoga in Houston for over 10 years, and I've been teaching yoga + meditation for about 3 years now. Depending on what type of yoga you like (vinyasa, yin, power yoga, etc.), whether you like heated/non heated, and even down to favorite instructors- here's my breakdown of my top yoga studios in Houston, TX!

1. Soul Tribes Yoga + Meditation

Soul Tribes Yoga Studio Team Photo

Okay, so I'm a little biased because I did my 200 -hour YMTT training with Soul Tribes and I also teach here.... but there's a reason I chose Soul Tribes for my training out of all the studios in HTX, and that's why I listed them first as one of my top yoga studios in Houston! Soul Tribes is unique because they offer not only traditional vinyasa flows, but they also have Yin Yoga, Thrive (uplevel class) and meditation + sound bowl classes. Their owner, Alexandra really enforces proper cueing and an inclusive environment so Soul Tribes is great for EVERY BODY, but especially for beginners. Your first intro month is $45 for unlimited classes.

I recommend checking out: One of their "Listen" sound bowl meditation classes (to experience the ULTIMATE zen) and a yin yoga class. Check out the schedule here.

I currently teach the following classes at Soul Tribes:

  • Monday 5:30pm THRIVE (level up)

  • Monday 7:00pm BLOOM (vinyasa fundamentals)

2. The Space Between

This is my favorite studio to practice at, outside of the studio I teach at! Nestled in the heart of the Sawyer Heights District, The Space Between offers a wide range of class types. Most of the classes are slightly heated, but they do offer a few non-heated classes throughout the week as well. I love to take Carmen's class (she's the owner) but I've tried several instructors here as well and they are all great! They also offer Ashtanga yoga here, which many studios don't offer.

3. Black Swan Yoga

Black Swan Yoga Studio

Black Swan is next on my top yoga studios in Houston. One thing I really like about them is that they offer "donation-based" yoga, meaning you pay what you can per class (as a way to include everyone, no matter what their financial situation is). Black Swan is a heated studio and they allow teachers full creative expression in their classes. Due to this, I find the classes to be a bit hit-or-miss (you never know what you're going to get) but there are some instructors whose classes I REALLY enjoy, like: Karin Chen, Jen Arthur, and Graham Gaskill! Since it's a heated studio, it's great in the winter when I want to get a good sweat/detox in so you'll usually see me at Black Swan on White Oak in the colder months. :) Check out their schedule here.

4. Obsidian Flow Yoga

Modern reception area with wood flooring, a golden front desk, pendant lights, and "Obsidian Flow" logo on wall. Shelves with plants.

This is a new studio that just opened this year. Obsidian Flow is the most aesthetically pleasing studio I've ever visited! I love their vast array of classes for every level of practitioner. The owners and management are lovely people and the energy in this space is so welcoming. They currently have a location in the Heights and now they are opening a Woodlands location soon. I would say this studio is best for experienced practitioners, but they do offer beginner classes as well. And you definitely don't want to miss their shake bar!!

5. Luxe Yoga

Two women practice yoga poses on mats with yoga blocks in a bright studio, wearing black and white athletic wear, focused and calm.

I had a really good experience a Luxe Yoga- as the name implies, it's a more elevated, "luxe" studio with full service and lots of other offerings (including a cold plunge!!). The space is gorgeous, it feels really clean and everyone is so nice and welcoming. I also like the smaller class sizes so you have more space to mvoe around (no more gross feet in your face like other studios!!). All of the instructors I have taken were clearly well trained and experienced. I really enjoyed their "strength & flow" class but all of them are great! Located in Upper Kirby/Rice Village area.
