7 Steps to Better Sleep

***Updated 3/27/2020*** Do you struggle to wake up in the mornings? Struggle to fall asleep at night because your mind is racing? Struggle to stay asleep? Or maybe you feel like you have no energy during the day? This used to be me! All through my childhood and teenage years I struggled with sleep- I had terrible anxiety in the evenings preventing me from falling asleep, I woke up frequently throughout the night, and I struggled to wake up in the morning due to the lack of quality sleep. I also got that "2:30 feeling" since my sleep was all out of whack, making me crave sugary foods all afternoon. Flash forward to now, and if you ask anyone who knows me, I am a big advocate for sleep and I l

Sunday Meal Prep: Healthy Chipotle Bowls

There's nothing I love more than getting the majority of my meals planned out for the week- not only am I making healthy choices, I am also saving money! This is a favorite of mine that I make regularly. A healthy twist on the popular Chipotle bowls that we all know and love, these are super high in protein, healthy fats and fiber to keep you full and energized throughout the day! This recipe makes 4 meals for the week, or serves a family of 4 for one meal. The best part about this meal is that there are so many ways to customize it- for example, if you don't like slow-cooker chicken you could grill the chicken or even do beef or pork instead. If you're a vegetarian, you can double the beans

Homemade Almond Milk

I switched to Almond Milk a while ago for many reasons, but I found out recently that store-bought almond milk isn't as good for you as you think! Ever wonder why your store-bought almond milk lasts so long? It's because of all the additives that are put in there to extend shelf life. Most store-bought almond milks also have an additive called Carrageenan. This is a thickener that helps improve the texture of dairy and alternative dairy products. Although still regarded "safe" by the FDA, Carrageenan has been linked to many health issues, including in

Don't Fall Victim to Your Salad Dressing

I used to hate salad, and the only way I could eat it was when I smothered it in a dressing that masked the flavor of the veggies.Flash forward to today, and I've done enough trial and error to figure out a salad mixture that I love and requires little or no dressing to enjoy. This is not a salad recipe though- this is a post about salad dressing! The majority of people put dressing on their salad, but do the majority of people know what's actually in their dressing? Assuming you are eating a salad because you want to improve your health, it might shoc

Irresistible, No-Sugar-Added, Fudge!

I love dessert. Actually, I live for dessert. I've probably eaten my dessert before my dinner more times than I'd like to admit. I've potentially eaten my dessert AS my dinner a time or four as well. This fudge was created partially by accident, partially by divine intervention. I was craving something sweet and had nothing that could satisfy my sweet tooth, so I went in the pantry and found some Stevia-sweetened chocolate chips, almond butter and coconut oil. I was planning to melt it all together and dip some fruit in it. I got busy and ended up throwing the mixture in the fridge to take care of later. When I opened my fridge an hour later, I had created a new dessert- FUDGE! This is SO eas
